I had the pleasure of going to the opening of the St.Johns (Sawmill Street, Cork) student exhibition 23rd May, and Sian Crowley’s work really stood out to me.
She exhibited as part of the Art, Craft and Design year long portfolio course, this varied exhibition included sculpture, painting, drawing, jewellery making, and more!
As always the jewellery was very impressive, but then I love the raw look of handmade jewellery, that’s where the beauty is, so you can’t go wrong really.
I did attempt to take photos of Sian and some of her pieces, unfortunately the only camera I had to hand is a vintage Zenith ET, so the photos didn’t really come out, the only cure is to pop into St.Johns while the exhibition is still running (which ends tomorrow – Wednesday 27th May 08 at 4pm) and take a look for yourself. I could try and explain the cool mask you look through into another world, but it makes me sound crazy and you have to use it to get it!
